Tigre Bread Wheat Seed

Tigre bread wheat ears
Certification class: Elit/Orijinal Wheat
Registration holder
Granar Tarım

Early bread wheat, Class 1 “Anatolian White Hard” at the Turkish Grain Board. Alveograph 450-500, gluten 32-38%, high drought tolerance.

Tigre sits in the “Anatolian White Hard” category that the Turkish Grain Board rates as class 1 bread wheat. It was bred by Agri Obtentions and registered in Türkiye in 2015 in the name of Granar Tarım.

In the registration trials TTSM compared 14 to 17 varieties over three years; Tigre came out as one of the varieties with the highest energy values.

How it behaves in the field

The ears are white, awned, broad and erect. The straw is thick and sound and the plant stands 95-105 cm. Medium height combined with strong straw makes it resistant to lodging, which also lifts straw yield.

It heads early. Drought tolerance is high and cold tolerance good. It has an alternative habit, suited to regions where alternative varieties are autumn-sown.

Tillering is moderate at 8-12, but yield potential is high. It is not fussy about soil and grows on bottomland, semi-bottomland and dryland alike.

Grain and quality

The grain is white, hard and oval. In European terms a BAF (strength wheat), and the type Türkiye's largest flour mills ask for.

Gluten 32-38%, protein 12-16%, thousand-grain weight 34-38 g, test weight 75-80 kg/hl, alveograph energy 450-500 — the highest alveograph figure in our range, and the measure that decides dough strength.

Sowing

22-24 kg per decare is recommended, aiming at 450-500 seeds per square metre. Suited to the transition zones and warm regions.

It shows moderate tolerance to powdery mildew, the rusts and downy mildew.

Seed is supplied as Basic/Pre-basic class in 50 kg bags. For a red-grained, later bread wheat see Renan. Call us for prices and availability.
