Central Alfalfa Seed
Alfalfa with dormancy 6. Early and fast growing, quick to recover after cutting. Three to four cuts a year, imported from Italy.
Central is an erect, medium-height alfalfa imported from Italy. Its dormancy rating is 6.
What dormancy means
Dormancy measures how far the plant shuts down over winter. The higher the number, the less it goes dormant and the longer it uses the season. Central's 6 means a longer growing season than Mirna's 5 — the gap widens in mild winters.
How it behaves in the field
It is early on average and fast growing. Because it recovers quickly after cutting it fits more cuts into the season: three to four a year. It holds up against disease and low temperatures.
Suited to green grazing and to silage.
Sowing
Sow in September-October or February-March at 3.5-4 kg per decare. Supplied in 10 kg bags.
